Brief Bio:
Sharon Lima was born on December 16, 1979 in Sao Paulo, Brazil. She lived in Brazil until the age of 13, then she moved along with her family to Miami, Florida. By the time she moved to the USA, she only spoke Portuguese. Accordingly, it was a little bit of a struggle for her to get used to a new country and a new language. However, Sharon was always very optimistic and dedicated. So in less than six months, she was already speaking fluent English and Spanish.

While in the USA, she had only eyes for school and sports (soccer), not even thinking about the entertainment industry. But in 1996 that all changed. That was when, after a considerable number of people tried to get her into modeling, she decided to participate on a beauty pageant, Miss-Teen Ft. Lauderdale. For her surprise, she won and was ready to go to the Miss-Teen USA of 96. But at the same time she was called upon to participate on another pageant, the regionals for the Miss Brazil USA. Again she won all the regionals and was set and ready to go to the National pageant. The only problem was that both pageants, Miss Brazil USA and Miss Teen USA, were during the same days. Consequently, she had to choose between them. At the end, she chose Miss Brazil USA.

Thus she participated on this extraordinary beauty pageant that included 50 Brazilian finalists from the entire United States. Sharon was very excited, but she had many obstacles to overcome due to her age at the time and her height. But with her modesty and optimism she won the Brazilian community's hearts as well as the title of Miss Brazil USA. After that accomplishment, her life was never the same. "I went from a soccer player to a beauty queen...that was a major change for me," Sharon says.

Miss Brazil USA was just a launch pat for Sharon's career, which fortunately went sky high afterwards. Subsequently, she participated and won many other pageants, and started her career in the entertainment industry. From hosting her own television program in Brazil and in the US, to participating on soap operas. Sharon has done it all.

With a soccer scholarship in college, Sharon started off as a pre-medical student. She interned at the Miami Children's Hospital for an entire year before deciding to change majors.

"My goal in life has always been into helping others; or in other words, informing others the truth. That is why the craft of journalism became my true calling," said Sharon.

With the desire to seek and report the truth at all cost, Sharon jumped at once into the world of TV News. While in college, she interned at NBC's Miami WTVJ's investigative unit for a period of eight months. That's where she learned the ropes of investigative reporting, daily breaking news, sports, and weather anchoring.

Today, Sharon Lima's calendar is fuller than ever. From writing her own columns to freelance news repoting -- without forgeting all of the speaking engagements and hosting TV specials. There is no doubt in my mind that Sharon Lima's story is still just at the beginning, and that her star will continue to shine bright for a long, long time.

"I will guide myself through the darkness with a light I shine from within."
