Sharon Lima was born on December 16,
1979 in Sao Paulo, Brazil. She lived in Brazil until the age of 15, then moved
along with her family to Miami, Florida, USA. When young she did a few
commercials and catalogs, but she never considered modeling as a career. At
that time she only had eyes for sports, especially soccer. By the time she
moved to the USA, she only spoke Portuguese. Accordingly, it was a little
bit of a struggle for her to get used to a new country and new language.
However, Sharon was always very optimistic and dedicated. So in less than
six months, she was already speaking fluent English and Spanish.
While in the USA, she was more focused in school and sports, not even
thinking about modeling & acting. But in 1996 that all changed. That was
when, after a considerable number of people tried to get her into modeling,
she decided to participate on a pageant, Miss-Teen Ft. Lauderdale. For her
surprise, she won and was ready to go to the Miss-Teen USA of 96. But at the
same time she was called upon to participate on another pageant, the
regionals for the Miss Brazil USA. Again she won all the regionals and was
set and ready to go to the National pageant. The only problem was that both
pageants, Miss Brazil USA and Miss Teen USA, were during the same days.
Consequently, she had to choose between them. So she chose Miss Brazil USA.
Thus she participated on this extraordinary pageant that included 50
Brazilian finalists from the entire United States. Sharon was very excited
but had many obstacles to overcome due to her age at the time and her
height. But with her modesty and optimism she won the Brazilian community's
hearts as well as the title of the next Miss Brazil USA. After that
accomplishment, her life was never the same. "I went from a soccer
player to a beauty queen...that was a major change for me," Sharon
says.
Miss Brazil USA was just a launch pat for Sharon's career, which fortunately
went sky high afterwards. Subsequently, she participated and won many other
pageants, and started her career in acting and modeling. Now, Sharon Lima's
calendar is fuller than ever. From hosting her own television program in
Brazil to participating on soap operas, she has done it all. And continues
to strengthen her career by taking acting courses and going to Florida
International University for a broadcasting and theater degree.
